Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme produced by silkworms with the main function of dissolving the silkworm’s cocoon. It is most often supplemented to support joint health but has also been found to liquefy mucus and reduce the size of bacterial biofilms. This makes it helpful for reducing phlegm buildup and nasal discharge.
